Will Manchester United bring any fans from Manchester?

Manchester United has one of the largest fan bases in the world, but will the club bring any fans from Manchester?

With widespread support that is heavily influenced by the club’s long history of mediocre success, with iconic players such as George Best, Steve Coppell, and £89 million flop, Paul Pogba, the club has an aggressive global marketing strategy that attracts glory-fans as far away as Papua New Guinea and the Falklands.

Similar to the issues with scarcity at Forest, the actual fans from Manchester have little chance of seeing Manchester United play because Koreans, Mexicans, and rich Angolan fans dominate the season ticket allocation.

Unlikely that the away team will bring any fans from Manchester.

Nottingham Forest host the Red Devils this weekend in what is seen as a crucial game for both sides, and the question of whether Manchester United will bring any fans from Manchester is always on our minds.

Nottingham Forest are looking for points to drag them away from the inevitability of relegation, and Manchester United will be looking to impress after last season’s woeful performances, in which they would’ve been relegated had it not been for three really crap teams.

Finishing just above a Tottenham Hotspur side that was void of any defensive strategy, whilst under the pitiful management of Australian confidence trickster, Ange Postecoglou, Manchester United were cheered on by their loyal fans from Milan, Manila, Miami, and Mansfield.

The possibility of Manchester United bringing any fans from Manchester is highly unlikely, but some fans still remain optimistic that local support could make the journey to the world-famous City Ground in Nottingham.

Yoshimoto Mori, from Tokyo, said, “Although I will be making the journey with my Japanese friends and family who have unaccountably supported Manchester United since 1994, I am really excited about meeting someone on the terraces who may originate from the great city of Manchester.”

Lifelong supporter, Mamadou N’Dour, 18, from Dakar, said, “I don’t know if my team will bring any fans from Manchester or not, but I am still proud to be associated with a team that has absolutely nothing to do with my culture or heritage.”

“I watch the game every week in Dakar,” said Mamadou, “and everyone there will be cheering for Manchester. We hate the Nottingham cartel because most of their fans are from a s#!thole in the East Midlands.”

English supporter, Alison Appleyard, 28, from Exeter, said, “If we do take any fans from Manchester, they will be over 70, as the only real fans from Manchester are all pensioners. They remember the glory days of airline disasters, relegation, European Cup wins,  and George Best getting arrested in Valletta with Oliver Reed.”

Nottingham Forest City Ground guests.

For those Manchester United and Forest fans who can’t get tickets for the game, due to Asian businessmen paying ridiculous amounts of money to watch Premiership football, and Nottingham Forest inviting nonsensical dignitaries to maintain a positive public image, there is always social media to keep us updated with the score.

The Forest PR machine is busy at times when Forest are playing in the spotlight of Europe, trying to milk the experience until Forest are relegated again.

The club is inviting a host of guests for European nights at the City Ground, including former Malmö FF players from the 1979 European Cup final. Other guests include Jurgen Klinsmann, warmonger Tony Blair, Issey Miyake’s dog, and Lucia Pinochet, the eldest daughter of murderous Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet.

The club is also allocating seats for the holograms of Brian Clough, Emperor Palpatine, and German Forest fan Eberhard “Ebby” Kleinrensing.

Only 148 Manchester United fans from Manchester.

As of August this year, Manchester United were ranked third, globally, in social media followers among clubs who just like to be associated with a ‘top six’ team, with over 250 million followers across all major platforms.

In 2019, a Kantar survey, commissioned by the club, reported that Manchester United has a following of 1.1 billion fans and followers, but only 148 of those, under the age of 55, are from the Manchester area.

Despite the fact that the away end will be absent of any fans from Manchester, Tree Seasons still predicts that VAR will intervene to ensure that Manchester United secure a slim victory this weekend.

Tree Seasons prediction: Nottingham Forest 0 – VARchester United 1.
