Many Brighton fans are still traumatised and seeking psychiatric help, ten months after the 7-0 thrashing against Nottingham Forest.
Trauma can manifest in various forms, and individuals may seek counselling when they feel overwhelmed or unable to cope with the aftermath of a traumatic event, such as seeing their favourite football team get spanked at the City Ground.
The 7-0 defeat in February last season left Brighton and Hove Albion fans so distraught that the shockwaves from the result were felt as far north as Watford and as far west as Bournemouth – https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c62qln7ny5wt .
Coincidentally, the defeat came off the back of a similar defeat for Nottingham Forest a week before, when The Reds were hammered 5-0 at Bournemouth’s s#i77y stadium on the south coast.
Helpline, as Brighton fans are still traumatised.
The goal spree at the City Ground allowed Forest fans to move on quickly, but, for the Brighton supporters, the resulting hysteria led to the creation of a helpline for those who were so troubled by the result that they were considering psychiatric assistance to help them cope.
The helpline was set up for those Brighton fans still traumatised by the 7-0 thumping to offer support and advice during a difficult time, especially after seeing Nottingham Forest go level on points with Arsenal.
Many succumbed to supporting a Manchester club.
Marcus Cactus, 48, is the brainchild behind the helpline, and he feels that the service has been a great comfort, ten months on.
“I think the helpline has seen an influx of calls as anxieties have grown over recent weeks. The Brighton fans have been anticipating this fixture for some time, and Forest’s recent run of form has raised anxiety levels amongst the Brighton community. There has been no greater demand for the service.”
“Although it’s highly unlikely, the last thing the fans need is another thrashing at the City Ground,” said Cactus, from Hove. “It was a significant, life-changing event for the Brighton fans, and I think another thumping really would tip many Brighton fans over the edge, perhaps to the point of supporting a Manchester club.”
We understand that in the wake of the aftermath, the 7-0 defeat has left many Brighton fans with complex psychological problems, including succumbing to supporting a top-six club, hundreds of miles away from where they were born.
Tree Seasons Prediction.
